How should we choose slippers to better protect foot health?

Slippers are an indispensable footwear in daily life. They are light, comfortable, easy to put on and take off, and are especially suitable for home environments. After a busy day, people are eager to put on soft and comfortable slippers when they return home to free their feet. However, if the slippers are not chosen correctly, it will not only affect the comfort, but also may pose a health hazard to the feet.

1. Possible problems with slippers

In pursuit of comfort and cheapness, many slippers may have the following problems when they are designed:

(1) Poor stability. Many slippers will have thickened soles and often choose softer materials, which will weaken our control over the feet and make it difficult to stand steadily. Especially for people who already have foot problems such as inversion and eversion, such slippers will aggravate their own foot problems.

(2) Lack of support. Many slippers have problems with too soft soles and insufficient support. They cannot provide sufficient arch support, resulting in the fascia of the sole of the foot being in a state of continuous tension when standing or walking for a long time, which can easily lead to foot fatigue or discomfort.

(3) Not anti-slip, easy to fall. Slippers are usually not anti-slip, especially on wet or waterlogged floors, it is easy to slip and fall.

(4) Easy to breed bacteria and fungi. Many slippers are made of plastic, which is not breathable and easy to breed bacteria and produce odor. Some “shit-like” slippers are made of memory foam, which is easy to retain heat. Long-term wearing will make the feet hot and sweaty, increasing the risk of fungal infection.

2. How to choose slippers?

After understanding the possible problems of home slippers, you can choose the right slippers by avoiding these “minefields”. The following are some suggestions for buying slippers:

(1) Choose slippers with supportive soles. Some slippers with thin soles, soft texture, and claimed to have a “shit-like” feel feel good, but lack sufficient support for the arch of the foot. When choosing shoes, the thickness of the sole should not be too thin or too thick, and the texture should be moderately soft and hard, with sufficient resilience to provide certain support for the arch of the foot.

(2) Pay attention to the material of the slippers. When choosing slippers, you can choose slippers made of EVA, TPU, TPR, natural rubber, and resin. They are made of a closed structure, waterproof and odor-resistant, and very light.

(3) Choose slippers with good anti-slip properties. Especially in slippery areas such as bathrooms and toilets, choosing a pair of slippers with good anti-slip properties can effectively avoid the risk of slipping. When choosing, you can pay attention to the design of the sole and choose ones with anti-slip textures or anti-slip patches.

Finally, no matter what material and craftsmanship the slippers are made of, they will age and dirt will penetrate into the inside of the slippers after wearing them for a long time. Therefore, it is best to replace the slippers every one or two years. I hope everyone can choose a pair of truly comfortable slippers to free their feet!
